Is using attendance tracking software for employees necessary?

Attendance tracking
In the world of mobile devices, remote work, social networks increases the risk of data leakage, cyber-attacks and other illegal actions that could compromise the company's image. At first glance, all these factors may not be interrelated, but there is a logical explanation.

According to the American Management Association, more than 1/3 of employers fired their employees for violating the rules for acceptable use of Internet networks. These numbers may seem unrealistic, but this number applies only to those companies that used the employee monitoring system, in fact, the number of violations is much larger and is increasing every day.

What is employee monitoring?

It is impossible to keep track of the entire state, but there are employee monitoring systems. So, employee monitoring is the only way to protect company data from the influence of the human factor. Attendance tracking software can prevent employees from opening suspicious emails and websites, it can also measure how much work time they spend searching for information on the Internet or on social networks.

For example, employers can track the time spent on the implementation of certain tasks and the time that the employee spends on the Internet, without performing their duties. When employees are not in close proximity, it is difficult to determine who among them is trying to perform their tasks as efficiently as possible and who does not fulfill even half of their duties.

The necessity

First of all, companies suffer from unproductive activity of employees, for example, using Facebook and other social networks during working hours. Many actions of employees may violate the confidentiality of the company, while others can be attributed to legal violations. Employee monitoring software can help managers better prioritize one or another subordinate, this is a big plus because the management will know for sure who deserves a pay rise and who needs to look for a new job.
